Refresh your skills and knowledge required to assess and provide response to a casualty in a first aid situation.
All nurses and midwives are required to fulfill their cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) competency requirement annually. And if you work in community settings, you may also want to refresh your first aid skills.
Only require CPR competency? Just attend the morning session. However you must attend the full day to attain HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.
NB: This course is also for members of the general public.
HLTAID009 Provide CPR (half day)
Essential to any first aid situation where the casualty is not breathing is the ability to provide effective CPR.
This practical workshop will assess your competence in knowledge and skills for providing effective CPR as per the guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC).
You will show competency through a practical demonstration of CPR on both an adult and infant manikin, performed on the floor.
Following the practical component, a written assessment with 100% mastery is also required to be deemed competent in providing effective CPR.
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (full day)
This course incorporates the morning CPR session.
This practical workshop incorporates several scenarios that will assess your competence for managing:
- Bleeding and chest pain
- Fractures and snakebites
- Asthma and anaphylaxis
Following the practical component, a written assessment with 100% mastery is also required to be deemed competent in providing CPR and first aid.
This is a nationally recognised qualification delivered by the ANMF (Vic Branch) Education Centre RTO ID 22609.
